An educational program that focuses on developing individual’s skills and confidences in public speaking.  Program participants learn how to develop a speech topic, organize their main points, and speak extemporaneously.  Effective communication is viewed as an essential life skill that people must possess in order to be successful in today’s society.  Anyone can learn how to deliver effective speeches for a variety of audiences.  Learn how to organize and craft an effective speech while leaving your audience with a lasting impression.  Learn how to redirect nervous energy into positive energy for a dynamic speech.  Drawing from communication, psychology, business, theatre and other fields, the instructor will teach program participants valuable public speaking principles.  This program is designed to make participants competent communicators across public settings.  This program will cover the following topics:  understanding anxiety and learning relaxation techniques, being an audience-centered speaker, building credibility and rapport with the audience, learning how to construct a variety of speeches, constructing and displaying visual aids appropriately, learning effective delivery—verbal and nonverbal communication, harnessing the power of persuasion.
